Lady of the House Speaking!

Before 'tween' was a term, I was lucky enough to be exposed to British culture. As Steve would have it, my 30 minutes of allocated screen time, when not well spent on my fellow tween's show 'Lizzie McGuire', were dedicated to PBS reruns of Keeping Up Appearances. [For those of you who actually pick up on American 90's cultural references, rather than attempting to slyly Google 'NSYNC lyrics like me, Keeping Up Appearances is a classic BBC sitcom about a social climbing woman and her hilariously down to earth family.]

Our beloved Mrs. Bucket ('Bouquet') taught me to never give up on correcting an oft-mispronounced name. I think of her when I sunnily repeat, 'It rhymes with parade!' for the  umpteenth time.

More importantly than cl'ahs' pronoun customs, though, Hyacinth taught me what a fabulous place Britain is.

Fifteen years later, here I am! Heartened by Hyacinth, spurred by my parents' love for travelling, and motivated by the burgeoning opportunities in London, I moved to London in August 2013. I started a grad scheme, made some wonderful friends, and now I'm starting a blog!

From flower markets to museums, from wine bars to restaurants, follow me as I keep up appearances in London!
